What are Infrared Saunas Sdyney
Restore and recharge in our spacious, state-of-the-art infrared sauna. RCVRI offers a “dry” sauna experience that utilises infrared lamps to therapeutically warm your body. This method induces deep, healthy sweating while the surroundings maintains a comfortable temperature. Infrared saunas can maintain a much lower temperature (between 49°C and 60°C) than traditional saunas and have much lower levels of humidity.
Standard sauna sessions last 60 minutes, including showering and changing. Bookings are for shared sessions, unless specifically reserved as a private booking. Please bring along a towel to sit on, a small towel to wipe away any sweat, and swimwear to wear during your session. We ask that everyone showers before using the sauna. You may also shower throughout the session if you would like to cool down during your session.. It is recommended to arrive in loose, relaxed clothing. RCVRI provides large and secure change rooms to store your belongings.
Saunas are not recommended for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, those fitted with pacemakers, or affected by lupus. Please consult your local GP or specialist before using the saunas if you suffer from any ailments or are taking any medication. We ask that you do not book a sauna if you have applied fake tan within the last 48 hours.

Understanding Infrared Sauna Therapy
Unlike traditional saunas, which heat the body by warming the air, infrared saunas utilise infrared light to heat your body directly. Although invisible to the human eye, this light penetrates deeper into the skin, elevating your core body temperature while offering a comfortable and relaxing experience.

The Science Behind Infrared Sauna Therapy
The physiological benefits of infrared sauna therapy are comprehensive and impactful. The deep heat penetration improves circulation, akin to the effects of a light cardiovascular workout. This enhanced blood flow delivers oxygen and nutrients more efficiently to every part of your body, aiding in recovery, reducing inflammation, and promoting overall health. The heat from the infrared sauna also helps your body sweat, aiding in the detoxification process. By helping to expel toxins, an infrared sauna can help in maintaining healthy immunity and improving skin health. From a performance perspective regular infrared sauna sessions can aid muscle recovery, reduce post-workout soreness, and increase flexibility. It can potentially lead to improved endurance, as the heat adaptation can improve your body’s efficiency in regulating its temperature, a crucial factor in athletic performance.Beyond Physical: The Psychological Benefits
Infrared sauna therapy isn’t just physical therapy; it also provides a host of psychological benefits. The comfortable heat can bring deep relaxation and stress relief, improve your mood and promote better sleep. Regular sauna sessions can act as a mental health booster, providing a tranquil space to unwind and recharge. Moreover, the discipline of regular sauna use can foster a sense of mindfulness. This dedicated time for self-care can become a meditative practice, enhancing your sense of self-awareness and encouraging a more mindful lifestyle.Infrared sauna compared with other recovery options
| Recovery option | Best suited to | How it feels |
| Infrared sauna | Heat-based recovery, relaxation, soreness support and soft tissue comfort | Dry, warming and calm |
| Traditional sauna | Heat exposure, relaxation and post-training recovery support | Hotter room feel with a classic sauna setting |
| Cold plunge | Alertness, contrast therapy and post-training reset | Cold, sharp and energising |
| Compression | Legs, arms, circulation support and post-training recovery | Rhythmic pressure and massage-like |
| Massage | Targeted tension, tightness and hands-on recovery | Direct, guided and specific |
Not sure what to book?
Start with your goal. If you want a calm heat session, choose infrared sauna. If you want a stronger contrast routine, pair heat with cold therapy. If your legs feel heavy after training or travel, compression may suit your next visit.

What is an Infrared Sauna?
An infrared sauna is a modern form of heat therapy that uses infrared light to generate heat, allowing for deeper penetration into the muscles, joints, and tissues. Unlike traditional saunas, which heat the surrounding air, infrared saunas heat the body directly, creating a more comfortable and effective experience.
How Infrared Saunas Work
- Infrared light waves penetrate deep into muscle tissues, providing intense relaxation and recovery benefits.
- Lower temperatures (typically between 49°C and 60°C) make the experience more comfortable compared to traditional saunas in a dryer less humid sauna experience.
- Deep heating stimulates circulation and promotes sweating, allowing for detoxification and improved metabolic function.
Our modern infrared sauna rooms in Sydney offer a customisable experience, allowing clients to adjust temperature settings and session duration for maximum comfort and effectiveness.

Benefits of Infrared Sauna Therapy
Physical & Mental Health
Regular infrared sauna sessions provide comprehensive health benefits, helping to improve both physical recovery and mental well-being. The deep-penetrating heat enhances circulation, reduces tension, and promotes relaxation, making it an ideal therapy for athletes, busy professionals, and wellness seekers.
Key Benefits
- Relieves muscle tension and joint pain by improving circulation and reducing inflammation.
- Promotes relaxation and mental clarity, lowering cortisol levels and stress.
- Boosts immune function, supporting the body’s ability to recover and fight off illness.
At RCVRI, our infrared saunas in Sydney provide a natural, non-invasive solution for stress relief and recovery.
Improved Recovery Times
For those engaged in high-intensity workouts, sports, or physically demanding routines, recovery is crucial for maintaining peak performance. Infrared sauna therapy is widely used by athletes and fitness enthusiasts for:
- Increasing blood flow and oxygen delivery to muscles, aiding in faster tissue repair.
- Reducing lactic acid build-up, preventing muscle soreness and stiffness.
- Improving flexibility and mobility, making it an excellent tool for injury prevention.
At RCVRI, we integrate infrared sauna therapy into personalised recovery plans, helping clients recover faster, reduce fatigue, and maintain optimal performance.
Boost Your Metabolism
Infrared sauna therapy has been linked to increased metabolic rates, making it an effective tool for weight management and energy balance. The heat generated by infrared waves stimulates energy expenditure, leading to:
- Enhanced calorie burning, supporting healthy weight loss and fat metabolism.
- Improved heart rate and circulation, contributing to cardiovascular health.
- Regulation of blood sugar levels, promoting stable energy levels throughout the day.
By raising core body temperature, infrared sauna therapy triggers the body’s natural metabolic processes, making it a valuable addition to an active and healthy lifestyle.
Detox Your System
Detoxification is essential for maintaining optimal health, and infrared sauna therapy plays a crucial role in helping the body eliminate toxins naturally. Sweating is one of the most effective ways to flush out harmful substances, and infrared saunas encourage deep, cleansing sweat production.
How Infrared Saunas Support Detoxification
- Promotes deep sweating, aiding in the removal of toxins, heavy metals, and impurities.
- Supports liver and kidney function, enhancing the body’s natural detoxification process.
- Encourages healthy skin, clearing pores and reducing breakouts for a more radiant complexion.
Unlike traditional saunas, infrared saunas operate at lower temperatures, allowing for a more comfortable yet highly effective detox experience.
Improve Your Skin Health
Regular infrared sauna therapy is beneficial for skin health and rejuvenation, helping to:
- Boost collagen production, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
- Increase circulation, delivering essential nutrients to skin cells for a healthy, youthful glow.
- Improve skin conditions, such as acne, eczema, and psoriasis, by reducing inflammation and clearing out impurities.
For those looking to enhance their skin naturally, infrared sauna therapy offers a safe, effective, and non-invasive solution.
